Sonetra Seng, a PhD candidate in the History of Art and Archaeology at SOAS, is dedicated to contributing to the field of textile adornment studies in Cambodia. With a background in field archaeology, Southeast Asian art history, conservation, and her engagement with the Royal University of Fine Arts in Cambodia, Sonetra's work is focused on unraveling the mysteries of textile adornment in ancient settings. Her research aims to modestly expand our understanding of textile adornment within early second-millennium Angkorian contexts, where scholarly exploration is sparse. By shedding light on the cultural significance and artistic intricacies of these textiles, Sonetra enriches our appreciation for the craftsmanship and heritage of Southeast Asia. She hopes to foster collaborative efforts and inspire further exploration in this fascinating field of study, integrating her conservation background to preserve these cultural treasures for future generations.
